Achieving Balance…

A fully integrated holistic and medically supported journey to reproductive health, wellbeing and fertility for men and women.

Fertility and Preconception Care Clinic

The Balance Fertility and Preconception Care Clinic is open to male and female fertility patients and those suffering from conditions such as Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), which respond well to dietary and lifestyle interventions.

Fertility Assessments for Men & Women

For couples or individual men and women who either would like to conceive now, prepare for a planned pregnancy within the next two years, or assess their fertility for future conceptions, we offer a full health and fertility assessment.

Medical Consultations

Adam Balen is professor of reproductive medicine and surgery and the lead clinician at Leeds Fertility. As well as NHS appointments, Professor Balen also offers private medical consultations at The Nuffield Hospital and The Spire Hospital that feed into the full range of reproductive medicine services at Leeds Fertility.

“Many thanks for all your care and support over the last couple of years. We cannot thank you enough for everything you have done for us and we are super excited about the birth of our baby due next month. The work you do is fantastic and we can never thank you enough.”

“To say we are grateful to Professor Balen for identifying our problems and assisting us is an understatement. The fact that he listened so carefully to my concerns was notable. Everyone I had spoken to before ignored the issues that I raised and I cannot thank Professor Balen enough.”

“We would like to thank you so much for the wonderful care and support given to us whilst seeking treatment with you. We are so happy that you gave us the chance to be parents and welcomed our wonderful son into the world.”

We always advise that it is best to come without children in order for you to gain the maximum benefit from your appointment, so that the focus is fully on you, without distractions.

Some blood tests are available on the NHS and can be requested via your GP, other blood tests can be done at The Nuffield and other tests can be done at home with kits that we provide for you.

It is difficult to determine in advance as what is needed depends on your medical history and symptoms, but we aim to minimise test costs, let you know where tests should be available on the NHS and you are in control of the budget.

We usually recommend at least 3 months, but it is better to have everything checked if you are going for fertility treatment, even if you don’t want to wait that long, as it is important to ensure you have sufficient levels of key nutrients for pregnancy and some factors need to be optimised before you conceive as studies show correcting deficiencies after conception does not improve outcomes.

You should receive the recommendations for next steps and testing within 2 weeks of your appointment
